From Eucalyptus Heritage to a Distinctive Pod Product

Unimasses translated FGB’s eucalyptus heritage into a manufacturable product system—connecting consumer positioning, eucalyptus oil application, leaf-inspired pod design, formulation, mold development, validation and manufacturing handover.

THE STRATEGIC BRIEF

The Objective Was Not to Create Another Generic Capsule

Commodity pod formulas and conventional shapes are increasingly easy to source. The durable opportunity was to create a product that could only make full commercial sense inside FGB’s own brand, material and market system.

01

Start with the Consumer

Convenience and cleaning performance had to be expressed through a product consumers could immediately understand and use.
02

Use a Real Brand Asset

Eucalyptus was not added as decoration. It was already central to FGB’s history, supply base, product language and customer recognition.
03

Translate Story into Engineering

The leaf form, eucalyptus oil application, formula, film, mold and production method had to work as one manufacturable system.

A Product Form Rooted in an Australian Material Story

A Product Form Rooted in an Australian Material Story
FGB’s eucalyptus heritage became a physical, functional and commercial part of the product—not a surface-level graphic treatment.

THE BRAND–PRODUCT CONNECTION

FGB’s Eucalyptus Story Became Part of the Product Architecture

FGB’s Bosisto’s heritage reaches back to 1852, when Joseph Bosisto began commercial eucalyptus oil distillation in Victoria. Today, FGB’s operation remains centred on eucalyptus cultivation and distillation, including Blue Mallee grown in regional Victoria.

Visual Identity

The eucalyptus leaf informed the capsule shape, giving the product a recognisable physical signature beyond packaging graphics.

Formula Identity

Eucalyptus oil was incorporated as a functional ingredient and fragrance source within the broader performance formulation.

Commercial Identity

The final product connected FGB’s natural-products story with a modern, convenient unit-dose format.

THE ENGINEERING SYSTEM

A Branded Idea Had to Survive Contact with Materials and Production

The capsule’s value depended on the connection among four systems—not on any isolated formula, mold or marketing concept.

01

Formula & Eucalyptus Oil

The oil’s fragrance and application value had to be integrated without compromising the concentrated cleaning system.
02

Film Compatibility

The formulation and fragrance system had to be evaluated against water-soluble film under agreed storage and use conditions.
03

Shape & Mold

The leaf geometry had to balance identity with forming depth, filling distribution, sealing area and demolding.
04

Process & Scale-Up

Laboratory samples had to translate into a stable production route suitable for partner manufacturing and commercial delivery.

MARKET-FACING PRODUCTS

One Brand Platform Extended into Two Mainstream Pod Categories

The resulting products show how one distinctive brand and ingredient platform can be translated into category-specific formulations rather than copied across applications.

Bosisto's Power+ Laundry Capsules 20 pack

Power+ Laundry Capsules

A laundry application combining pre-measured use, stain-removal functions and the Bosisto’s eucalyptus product signature.

Bosisto's Supreme+ Dishwasher Capsules 18 pack

Supreme+ Dishwasher Capsules

A dishwasher application connecting cleaning performance, plant- and mineral-based ingredient positioning and eucalyptus oil from FGB’s Victorian supply base.

CLEAR PROJECT BOUNDARIES

Three Parties Contributed Different Capabilities

FGB

Brand heritage, eucalyptus oil resources, market knowledge, commercial requirements and final product acceptance.

Unimasses

Product route, formula development, leaf-inspired shape and mold development, testing, validation and technical handover.

Manufacturing Partner

Production preparation, scale manufacturing, quality execution and commercial product delivery under the agreed project system.

PROJECT OUTCOME

The Result Was a Product the Brand Could Own—not Merely Source

Brand history became product geometry. A strategic raw material became part of the formulation. Engineering converted both into a product that could be manufactured and sold.

Distinctive Product Form

A eucalyptus-inspired physical identity strengthened recognition beyond the outer pack.

Category-Specific Formulas

Category-Specific Formulas
Laundry and dishwasher products were developed around different performance and manufacturing needs.

THE REPEATABLE METHOD

Your Best Pod Product May Already Be Hidden Inside Your Existing Business

A proprietary ingredient, technical strength, regional consumer insight, brand story or distribution advantage can become the starting point for a differentiated pod product. Unimasses connects that asset to formulation, structure, mold, testing and production.
